Midfoot Osteoarthritis
Description
Midfoot OA is the non-inflammatory arthritic changes occurring at the mid-tarsal joints. Although osteoarthritis is non-inflammatory, the bony changes can result in increased midfoot pressure and impingement – inflaming tendons, capsule and other forms of soft tissue.
Key considerations when treating midfoot OA-related pain:
Keeping it simple and effective is always the goal to successful orthotic prescription. Offloading the impinged / inflamed soft tissue through the midfoot, and considering the location, should be achieved with a matched 1:1 contour of the medial and lateral longitudinal arches. When prescribing orthotics for patients with cavus foot types, Podiatrists are able to select a laminated arch in Prescribe.
Laminated Arch
A Laminated Arch requests the adhesion of EVA to the medial longitudinal arch (MLA) to ensure that the contour of the MLA matches the 3D scan morphology.
